5 steps to write a short letter – 5 steps

“I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.” Mark Twain

With words, it’s very easy to confuse quantity with quality.  Here are some ideas about how to get to the point:

  1. Pretend your audience are children
  2. Outline everything, de-dupe and then cross out anything not absolutely relevant
  3. Write in short, simple sentences
  4. Avoid scope creep – stick to your original point
  5. Re-read, then re-read again. Then, re-write
